WE LOVE MAKING SMILES
Raising funds for local causes
We run a weekly lottery draw in support of local causes. It costs just £1 per week to play and lottery members are making a difference to people in their local community who benefit from the fantastic local causes that we support. We love making smiles.
WHO ARE WE?
make a smile lottery is owned and run by St Helena, a hospice charity, so we really understand how important fundraising is and the importance of providing a valuable regular income. St Helena receives a small income towards hospice care from each membership for administering the lottery but the great thing is that all proceeds stay within the charity sector.

Reducing Overheads for Local Charities
By working with local causes in this way, overheads and costs are kept to a minimum which means that on average, 65% of make a smile lottery income goes back to charity - the rest goes towards the costs of running the draw and prize fund. (The percentage each charity receives does vary- a minimum of 20p in every £1 played goes towards your chosen charity). You choose which local cause you wish to support with your membership.

helping while playing
Make a smile lottery began its life in July 2017, with our first charity partner Wessex Heartbeat. Our team, based at St Helena in Colchester have over 16 years experience in running and administering Your Hospice Lottery. In that time a total of £9 million has been raised for hospice care.
We have now launched make a smile lottery from our same Colchester offices, which will support registered charities. We are delighted to be able to bring our knowledge and expertise of running a lottery to the rest of the charitable sector.
In April 2018 we were recognised on a national level for our lottery services by being shortlisted for a National Fundraising Award in the category for Most Innovative Fundraising Campaign.
